Milan manager Max Allegri is preparing for a crucial match against Genoa with several key decisions to make, according to reports from Milan-based journalists. The Rossoneri need a win to secure their place in next season’s Champions League, having exhausted their bonus opportunities.
The team will be without three players through suspension following yellow cards received during the match against Atalanta: Charles De Ketelaere, Alexis Saelemaekers, and Estupinan. Saelemaekers’ absence opens the door for Noah Athekame to start at right wing-back, having made a positive impression in the latter stages of the Atalanta game. Rafael Leão will also miss the Genoa match due to suspension.
However, Milan will welcome back Christian Pulisic, who missed the Atalanta fixture with a gluteal muscle problem. Medical examinations have ruled out any serious injury, and the American winger is expected to return to the starting lineup. Christopher Nkunku is also pushing for a start after a strong showing as a substitute against Atalanta.
The attacking duo is likely to be Pulisic and Nkunku, with Lorenzo Gimenez and Füllkrug available as options from the bench. In midfield, Fofana is expected to replace Loftus-Cheek, while Ricci should retain his place in front of the defense. Veteran midfielder Luka Modric is eager to be included in the squad, potentially wearing a protective mask if he receives medical clearance.
In defense, Fikayo Tomori returns from suspension, displacing De Winter. The team will begin a training retreat at Milanello tomorrow in preparation for the vital trip to Genoa. Securing a victory at Marassi is paramount for Milan’s Champions League aspirations, followed by a final-day home match against Cagliari.
