Antonio Raimondo, the 22-year-old forward owned by Bologna, is poised to return to Frosinone after a successful loan spell that saw him score 11 goals in Serie B, helping the club secure promotion to Serie A. Raimondo expressed some disappointment at not reaching his personal target of 15 goals, but acknowledged the positive impact of his time with the club.
The young Italian striker arrived at Frosinone following what he described as a “totally negative” season split between Venezia and Salernitana, where he struggled for consistent playing time. Coach Massimiliano Alvini showed faith in Raimondo, providing him with the opportunity to rediscover his form and become a key player for the Ciociari. Raimondo credits Alvini’s belief in him as crucial to his resurgence.
Raimondo’s journey began at Bologna, where he made his Serie A debut at the age of 17 under coach Sinisa Mihajlovic, whom he considers a mentor. He has since had loan spells with Ternana, Venezia, Salernitana, and now Frosinone, gaining valuable experience across different leagues and clubs. He spoke fondly of Mihajlovic, recalling a moment where the coach personally told him to prepare to enter the game, a moment he didn’t fully grasp until days later.
With his loan set to expire on June 30th, Raimondo will return to Bologna to link up with coach Thiago Motta, who has reportedly expressed his desire to include him in the pre-season training camp. However, a return to Frosinone appears to be the most likely outcome, offering him the opportunity to secure regular first-team football in Serie A. He admires current Serie A stars like Gianluca Scamacca and Lucca, and also highlighted the talent of his friend, Pio Esposito. Raimondo also stated that if called up to the national team, he would be happy to represent Italy.
Raimondo described himself as a forward who prefers to attack the depth of defenses, relying on his speed and finishing ability. He has also been studying the movements of players like Roma’s Paulo Dybala to refine his game. His successful season with Frosinone has revitalized his career, and a continued spell with the club could be pivotal for his development as a Serie A player.
