Grant-Leon Ranos is set to join Spanish Segunda División side CD Tenerife in a permanent transfer from Borussia Mönchengladbach, according to Sky Germany. A full agreement between the two clubs was reached in recent hours, with the deal expected to generate around €300,000 for Mönchengladbach, plus add-ons and a significant sell-on clause.
The 22-year-old Armenian international will sign a contract with CD Tenerife that runs until 2028, with an option for a further year should the club achieve promotion to La Liga. The transfer is contingent upon Ranos successfully completing a medical, after which he will immediately join the newly promoted side.
Ranos made 19 appearances for Borussia Mönchengladbach between August 2023 and December 2023, scoring one goal for the Bundesliga club. He struggled to establish himself as a regular starter during his time in Germany, often featuring as a substitute. The move to Tenerife offers the forward an opportunity for more consistent first-team football.
Internationally, Ranos has represented Armenia on 26 occasions, scoring five goals and providing two assists. He debuted for the national team in 2021 and has become a consistent member of the squad, showcasing his potential on the international stage. The transfer to Tenerife represents a chance for Ranos to further develop his game and contribute to a team with ambitions of its own.
CD Tenerife will be hoping Ranos can bolster their attacking options as they look to consolidate their position in the Segunda División. Mönchengladbach will likely view the sale as a way to recoup some of their investment in the player and free up space in their squad. This move could prove beneficial for both parties, providing Ranos with a platform to progress his career and allowing Mönchengladbach to refine their attacking options.
