Marcus Rashford is expected to continue his career with Barcelona on a second season-long loan from Manchester United, according to TEAMtalk. The agreement would see the England international remain in Spain for the 2026/27 campaign, with a potential permanent transfer to be revisited in the summer of 2027 when Rashford would have one year remaining on his contract at Old Trafford.
Rashford joined Barcelona last summer on an initial loan deal, which included a €30million (£26m, $35.2m) purchase option. However, Barcelona have indicated a preference for extending the loan arrangement rather than exercising that option immediately, citing ongoing financial concerns. The Catalan club are currently pursuing other targets, including Julian Alvarez of Atletico Madrid and Alessandro Bastoni of Inter Milan, and are hesitant to commit to a significant outlay for Rashford at this time.
During his time at Barcelona, Rashford has made 46 appearances across all competitions, scoring 13 goals and providing 14 assists. These performances have reinforced Barcelona’s desire to retain his services, but have not altered their financial strategy. The player himself is reportedly settled in Spain and eager to continue working with manager Hansi Flick.
Manchester United, meanwhile, appear resigned to losing Rashford permanently. While they would ideally prefer a permanent sale this summer, they are also aware of the financial implications of reintegrating his substantial wage – reported to be around £325,000 per week – onto their books. The club are open to offers from other Premier League sides, with Arsenal and Bayern Munich both monitoring the situation. A compromise appears likely, with a renewed loan deal representing the most feasible solution for all parties in the short term. This arrangement would allow Barcelona to delay a significant financial commitment and potentially negotiate a lower fee for Rashford in 2027.
