Florian Raspentino has rejoined GOAL FC after the club announced the absorption of FC Saint-Cyr/Collonges-au-Mont-d’Or, a team currently competing in the Régional 1 division. The move sees GOAL FC, formed in 2020 from the merger of MDA Chasselay, Tassin FC, Champagne Sport, and futsal Saône Mont d’Or, further consolidate its position as the largest club in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes League.
GOAL FC has rapidly grown since its inception, adding Chazay Féminin FC to its portfolio and now incorporating FC Saint-Cyr/Collonges-au-Mont-d’Or. With approximately 1,800 members, including 1,500 players, the club’s expansion is drawing attention within French football, with some observers suggesting it could eventually challenge Olympique Lyonnais’ dominance in the region.
Raspentino’s return is a notable addition for GOAL FC, though details of his contract were not disclosed. The forward previously played for FC Saint-Cyr/Collonges-au-Mont-d’Or before the merger, and his familiarity with the local footballing landscape is expected to be valuable. The club’s aggressive expansion strategy has raised eyebrows, but they remain focused on developing talent and becoming a major force in French amateur football.
Despite its ambition, GOAL FC will not be competing in the National 1 league this season, with the division confirmed to consist of 17 clubs. The club’s continued growth and acquisition of other teams are prompting discussion about the future structure of regional football in France and the potential impact on established clubs like Lyon. The club's trajectory suggests a long-term vision to climb the French football pyramid.
