Former Juventus striker Fabrizio Ravanelli has called for a significant overhaul of the club's attack, suggesting Manchester City's Gabriel Jesus as an ideal target while dismissing the suitability of current forward Moise Kean. In an interview published on Monday, Ravanelli argued that the Bianconeri need a new, high-calibre striker to compete at the highest level.
Ravanelli was unequivocal in his assessment of the club's current options, stating that Jonathan David, in particular, has struggled with the step up in quality. "David has paid too much for the leap in quality," Ravanelli said. "It's one thing to play at Lille, in a French league without too much pressure, and another is having to make the difference at Juventus." He concluded that David's season has been negative and that he is not a player for winning Champions Leagues or Scudetti.
The ex-Italy international also weighed in on the future of Dusan Vlahovic, whose contract expires at the end of the season. While acknowledging Vlahovic's qualities, Ravanelli insisted his potential renewal would not be sufficient on its own. "If he were to stay, I think another top striker who makes the difference would still be needed," he explained, citing the historical depth of quality in Juventus's forward line.
Ravanelli firmly rejected speculation linking the club with a move for Barcelona's Robert Lewandowski, due to the Polish striker's age. "It would send the wrong message to the whole fanbase and to Juventus's planning," he said. Instead, he advocated for a forward with a long-term future, naming Gabriel Jesus as a prime example. "I would do everything to take Osimhen, but I know it's not easy due to various clauses. Of strong attackers there are around, starting with Gabriel Jesus who, in my opinion, would be a Juventus striker, even if he has had some injuries," Ravanelli stated.
He emphasised the need to build a new core of hungry, young players, reminiscent of the successful Juventus side he was part of in the 1990s. The club's scouting, he suggested, must identify the best profile capable of winning important trophies in the future. Among the current squad, Ravanelli highlighted Kenan Yildiz, Gleison Bremer, and Tiago Djaló as key pieces for the rebuild, while expressing continued faith in the potential of Matias Soule and calling for more patience with winger Edon Zhegrova, whom he praised for his strong personality.
The interview underscores the growing consensus that Juventus's attack requires substantial investment this summer, with the futures of several current players appearing increasingly uncertain as the club plans its next cycle.
