RB Leipzig have registered their interest in signing Everton striker Thierno Barry, reports The Times. The Bundesliga club have made initial contact regarding a potential move for the 23-year-old French forward, though no formal offer has yet been submitted, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Barry joined Everton in the summer of 2025 from Villarreal for a reported fee of €30 million. The transfer represented a significant investment by the Premier League club, who were seeking to bolster their attacking options. He made a positive impact during his first season at Goodison Park, scoring eight goals in 41 appearances across all competitions.
At RB Leipzig, the striker positions were occupied by Romulo and Conrad Harder throughout the 2025/26 campaign. Romulo ultimately established himself as the preferred option under former head coach Ole Werner, who was recently dismissed from his role. This change in management, coupled with the potential for squad restructuring, may have prompted Leipzig’s interest in Barry.
Everton’s current financial situation could also play a role in considering offers for Barry. While the club invested heavily in his acquisition, player sales may be necessary to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations. Barry’s relatively strong goal-scoring record in his debut season would likely attract interest from other clubs as well.
