RC Lens have submitted an initial offer of between €3 and €4 million for PSV Eindhoven defender Armando Obispo, according to L’Équipe. The move comes as Lens look to rebuild their defence following the departure of Malang Sarr at the end of his contract.
Obispo, 27, has been with PSV for twenty years, having come through their youth system. He recently represented Curaçao at the World Cup, demonstrating his international experience. While his current contract with the Dutch club runs until 2027, PSV are reportedly open to a sale.
Negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing, with L’Équipe reporting that Obispo himself is receptive to a move to Ligue 1. Lens finished sixth in Ligue 1 last season, securing a spot in the Europa Conference League, and will be hoping to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign.
Obispo has established himself as a key player for PSV, making 27 appearances in the Eredivisie last season. He provides versatility in defence, capable of playing as a centre-back or defensive midfielder. His arrival would add much-needed depth and experience to the Lens backline, particularly after losing Sarr, who was a regular starter.
The potential transfer could represent a significant opportunity for Obispo to test himself in a different league. Lens’s participation in European competition will also offer him a platform to showcase his abilities on a larger stage. If the transfer is completed, it is expected to bolster Lens’s defensive options ahead of a busy season.
