Real Madrid are poised to sign Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig this week, with a deal expected to be worth around €130 million, according to reports in AS. The clubs are currently in negotiations, but Madrid are confident of securing the highly-rated winger.
The move for Diomande is reportedly being approached in a similar manner to the club’s successful pursuit of Jude Bellingham in 2024. Madrid broke their transfer record to sign Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund for €127 million, a decision that has been vindicated by the midfielder’s subsequent performances and increased commercial value. This success has emboldened the club to invest a similar sum in another young prospect.
Diomande’s rise to prominence has been rapid. After years playing at an amateur level and undergoing trials with various clubs, he joined Leganes in 2025. He made ten first-team appearances for the Spanish side, scoring twice, before Leipzig activated his €20 million release clause last summer.
His debut season in the Bundesliga was impressive, with Diomande registering 12 goals and eight assists. This form attracted interest from several top European clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool. PSG were initially considered the frontrunners for his signature, with Diomande reportedly giving them priority, but protracted negotiations and a failure to agree a fee with Leipzig ultimately stalled the deal.
Madrid then swiftly entered the fray, and the 19-year-old was quickly attracted by the prospect of joining the Spanish giants. Jose Mourinho is reportedly viewing Diomande as a key component of his attack, and the club hopes he will replicate the success Bellingham has enjoyed at the Santiago Bernabéu. The completion of the transfer is anticipated in the coming days.
