Real Madrid are reportedly preparing a world-record bid for Bayern Munich forward Michael Olise this summer, according to MARCA. The potential offer, which could exceed €220 million, is motivated by a desire to reclaim dominance in La Liga and counter the impact of Barcelona’s rising star, Lamine Yamal.
Olise has become a key player for Bayern since his move from Crystal Palace in 2024, currently featuring alongside Kylian Mbappe for France at the 2026 World Cup. His performances have established him as a significant talent in European football, and Madrid view him as an ideal signing to strengthen their attacking options, particularly on the right wing.
Florentino Perez, Real Madrid’s president, had previously pledged a €150 million offer for a star player during his re-election campaign. While a similar bid was made for Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez, it was reportedly a strategic move rather than a genuine attempt to secure his signature. Madrid now see Olise as the priority target.
The pursuit of Olise is driven, in part, by a need to address what Madrid perceive as the “Lamine effect.” Barcelona’s success in recent seasons has been attributed to the emergence of Lamine Yamal, who is seen as a pivotal player in their title-winning campaigns. Madrid believe that signing Olise would provide a comparable star power and disrupt Barcelona’s momentum.
Bayern Munich have consistently stated their unwillingness to sell Olise, with club president Herbert Hainer dismissing any potential offers as futile. However, Madrid are prepared to significantly exceed their initial €150 million pledge, potentially reaching a figure that could tempt Bayern into considering a sale. A fee of €220 million would match the world record paid for Neymar in 2017.
Alongside Olise, Real Madrid are also interested in acquiring Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea, although his valuation of over €120 million could present a financial challenge. The club may need to consider selling players like Aurelien Tchouameni or Federico Valverde to fund both blockbuster transfers. Mbappe’s influence could also play a role in persuading Olise to favour a move to the Spanish capital.
