Stade de Reims have completed the signing of Daouda Guindo from Stade Brestois, the club confirmed on Thursday. The 23-year-old left-back joins Reims on a free transfer and has signed a contract that runs until 2031.
Guindo established himself as a key player for Brest last season, making 25 Ligue 1 appearances under the late Éric Roy, who passed away on Wednesday at the age of 58. He took the starting position at left-back, displacing Bradley Locko, who was recovering from an Achilles tendon injury.
Speaking through a club statement, Guindo explained his reasons for choosing Reims. He highlighted the club’s history with Malian international players, specifically mentioning Kamory Doumbia, and expressed his confidence in the vision of the club’s leadership. Guindo also cited the ambition and professionalism he observed at Reims as factors in his decision.
Guindo’s arrival provides Reims with a promising option at left-back as they prepare for the upcoming Ligue 1 season. The length of his contract signals a long-term commitment from both player and club, suggesting Reims view Guindo as a significant part of their future plans. This transfer bolsters their defensive options and adds competition for places within the squad.
