Amir Richardson is set to rejoin Le Havre on a season-long loan from Fiorentina, with the French club holding an €8 million option to buy, according to Le Parisien. The 24-year-old midfielder will return to the club where he began his career after a six-month loan spell at Copenhagen, where the Danish side did not exercise their purchase option.
Richardson departed Le Havre for Fiorentina in the summer of 2023, seeking opportunities in Serie A after establishing himself as a key player in Ligue 1. He made 31 appearances for Le Havre prior to his move, becoming a central figure in midfield with his imposing physical presence and passing range. However, his time in Florence has been less impactful, with limited playing time prompting the return to France.
The move comes as Le Havre, under the leadership of coach Didier Digard and new sporting director Demba Ba, actively seek to strengthen their squad. The club reportedly prioritized Richardson’s return, successfully fending off interest from OGC Nice, who were awaiting funds from player sales before making a formal offer. Le Havre’s proactive approach was crucial in securing the deal.
At 1.97m tall, Richardson offers a significant physical presence in midfield, a quality valued by Digard as he looks to build a competitive team. His return provides Le Havre with an experienced player familiar with the club’s environment and fanbase. A medical is scheduled for Friday or Saturday to finalize the transfer. Should Le Havre trigger the €8 million option, Richardson would become a permanent fixture once again, bolstering their midfield for the foreseeable future.
