Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison is reportedly a target for Turkish Super Lig side Fenerbahce, with the club poised to make a move for the Brazilian this summer. The 29-year-old joined Spurs from Everton in 2022 for a fee of £60 million including add-ons, but has struggled to consistently replicate his previous form in North London.
Richarlison managed 11 goals in 32 Premier League appearances last season, however, with his current contract set to expire in twelve months and an extension appearing unlikely, Tottenham are considering cashing in on the player. According to journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, as reported by Sport Witness, an official offer has been submitted to Spurs from a ‘big team’ in Turkey, widely speculated to be Fenerbahce.
Further fueling speculation, journalist Ertan Suzgun reports that Fenerbahce representatives are currently in London, though the purpose of their visit has not been officially confirmed. This timing has led to increased belief that the trip is related to negotiations for Richarlison.
Fenerbahce are clearly demonstrating ambition in the transfer market, recently announcing an agreement to sign Manchester City defender Nathan Ake for a fee potentially rising to £8.5 million. However, The Manchester Evening News reports that City maintain there is ‘work to do’ on the deal, suggesting a full agreement has not yet been reached. Ake’s contract at the Etihad Stadium also expires in twelve months, making him another player whose future is uncertain.
The potential arrival of both Ake and Richarlison would represent a significant statement of intent from Fenerbahce as they aim to build on a season where they narrowly missed out on the league title. For Richarlison, a move could offer a fresh start and a chance to rediscover his best form, while Tottenham would recoup a significant portion of the fee they initially paid to Everton.
