Arsenal are reportedly confident of securing a deal for Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, while Manchester City midfielder Rodri is attracting interest from several European giants, according to various reports on July 26th. PSG and Barcelona have both entered the race to sign Rodri, joining Real Madrid who are currently leading the pursuit, as per RMC Sport.
Despite not initially planning to bolster their midfield options this summer, PSG view the 30-year-old Rodri as a significant market opportunity and are prepared to make a move. Real Madrid have already agreed personal terms with the Spain international, but the late interest from both PSG and Barcelona could complicate matters. Rodri has been a key figure for Manchester City since his arrival in 2019, winning multiple Premier League titles and the Champions League.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are optimistic about signing Alvarez should the Argentine international reconsider his desire to remain in Spain. TEAMtalk reports that the Gunners have positioned themselves to act quickly, but Alvarez is currently hesitant about a return to the Premier League. Arsenal believe they could negotiate a fee with Atletico Madrid below their €150m valuation if Alvarez indicates a willingness to move to North London. Alvarez joined Atletico Madrid in 2022 and has become a regular starter for Diego Simeone’s side.
Liverpool have reportedly been offered Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr by the player’s representatives, but have declined to pursue a deal, according to Ben Jacobs. The Reds are prioritizing strengthening their right wing position this summer, rather than the left where Vinicius Jr plays. Vinicius Jr has one year remaining on his current contract, and negotiations over an extension have stalled, potentially forcing Real Madrid to consider a sale.
Elsewhere, Real Madrid are attempting to hijack PSG’s deal for RB Leipzig defender Yan Diomande, Fabrizio Romano reports. Los Blancos are capitalizing on PSG’s reluctance to meet Leipzig’s €120m asking price.
