AS Roma have reached an agreement in principle with Club Brugge forward Nicolò Tresoldi, according to a report in Il Romanista. The 21-year-old, who has also been linked with several other prominent European clubs, is now set to discuss the possibility of a move to the Italian capital.
Tresoldi, a Germany Under-21 international, has impressed since joining Club Brugge, attracting interest from the likes of Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and Bayer Leverkusen. Born in Cagliari, Italy, he qualifies for both nations and has represented Germany at various youth levels, scoring 12 goals in 24 appearances for the U21 side. His recent form has established him as a promising talent in European football.
The potential transfer fee remains a sticking point, with Club Brugge reportedly seeking €30 million for the player. Roma are hoping to negotiate this price down as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season. The club will likely need to generate funds through player sales to accommodate Tresoldi’s arrival.
Roma have identified Artem Dovbyk as a potential player to sell in order to finance the deal, with Betis reportedly showing interest in the Ukrainian forward. Dovbyk arrived at Roma last summer and contributed seven Serie A goals, but the club may see his sale as necessary to complete the acquisition of Tresoldi.
The move for Tresoldi would add another attacking option for manager Daniele De Rossi, providing competition and depth in the forward line. If completed, the transfer could signal Roma's ambition to compete at the higher end of Serie A and in European competitions.
