Roma are reportedly advancing in their pursuit of Marseille forward Mason Greenwood, while also considering a move for Atletico Madrid’s Matteo Ruggeri to bolster their left-back options. According to reports, Roma have received a positive indication from Greenwood regarding a potential transfer, with the English player seemingly open to joining the Italian club.
Negotiations with Marseille are ongoing, with the French club currently seeking a fee of €50 million for their prized asset. Roma have submitted an initial offer of €40 million plus bonuses, and it remains to be seen whether this will be enough to secure Greenwood’s signature. The interest from Fenerbahce has reportedly cooled following a change in the Turkish club’s leadership.
In addition to Greenwood, Roma are also exploring options at left-back, with Matteo Ruggeri emerging as a potential target. The 20-year-old, who previously played under Roma coach Daniele De Rossi at Atalanta, could be available if Atletico Madrid sign Chelsea’s Ian Maatsen. Ruggeri has not been a regular starter for Atletico since joining the club.
Elsewhere in Serie A, Lazio are prioritizing the acquisition of a central defender and a striker under new manager Rino Gattuso. They have expressed interest in Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez, while also monitoring Diego Coppola of Brighton. Alessio Romagnoli is reportedly nearing a move to Al Sadd in Qatar, where he is expected to sign a three-year contract.
Atalanta are poised to appoint Maurizio Sarri as their new head coach and are targeting midfielders Ardon Jashari of Milan and Gianluca Gaetano of Cagliari. Cagliari have appointed Pietro Accardi as their new sporting director and have decided against making the loan deals of Folorunsho and Kilicsoy permanent. Genoa are nearing a deal to sign Vaz from Varesina and are in talks to secure Baldanzi from Roma for €8 million.
