Fabrizio Romano has refuted reports linking Manchester United with moves for Paraguayan goalkeeper Orlando Gill and Crystal Palace winger Ismaila Sarr. Claims originating from Paraguay suggested United had initiated talks to sign Gill, who impressed at the recent World Cup, but Romano asserts these links are unfounded.
Romano explained via his YouTube channel that United already have adequate goalkeeping cover with Karl Darlow recently joining as a free agent, alongside Senne Lammens and Tom Heaton. The club is also reportedly seeking a departure for Altay Bayindir, making a further addition in that position unnecessary. Gill, therefore, is not currently a target for the Old Trafford side.
The Italian journalist also dismissed speculation surrounding a potential move for Sarr. According to Romano, Manchester United will not pursue a new winger while Marcus Rashford remains at the club. Recent reports, including an update from the i paper, suggest Rashford is expected to stay at United next season following a review by new ownership group INEOS.
Manchester United have already secured four signings this summer: Karl Darlow, Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans, and Tynan Thompson. The club is still reportedly interested in adding another midfielder and a left-back, with Newcastle’s Lewis Hall identified as a top target. A new striker could also arrive, potentially contingent on the departure of Joshua Zirkzee. These remain the primary focus for incomings, with the goalkeeper and winger positions seemingly settled for now.
The clarification from Romano provides a clearer picture of United’s transfer priorities as the window progresses, focusing efforts on strengthening specific areas of the squad rather than pursuing a wider range of targets.
