Tottenham Hotspur are continuing their summer overhaul with Manchester City winger Savinho identified as a key target following the impending arrival of Sandro Tonali, according to Fabrizio Romano. The club has already secured free agent signings in Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, and Martin Dubravka, alongside Mateus Fernandes from West Ham United and Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton and Hove Albion.
Spurs have reportedly agreed a £100 million deal with Newcastle United for Tonali, with an announcement expected imminently. Manager Roberto De Zerbi has prioritized adding a new winger to the squad, with AC Milan’s Rafael Leao and Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo also previously linked with moves to North London. However, Savinho has remained a consistent target for the club.
Transfer insider Graeme Bailey reported Tottenham’s interest in Savinho on May 27th, noting that Manchester City were open to a sale and the player himself was keen on a move to join De Zerbi’s project. Savinho’s representatives have since indicated his willingness to join Tottenham, as reported by Fraser Fletcher on June 2nd. Romano reiterated this willingness on his YouTube channel, stating the “deal is still on.”
Romano cautioned that the timing of any potential deal hinges on factors such as the transfer fee and Manchester City’s own transfer plans. He emphasized that Tottenham have not abandoned their pursuit of the Brazilian winger, adding that he should be remembered as a potential addition to the squad after the other recent signings. The quick succession of deals signals a proactive approach from De Zerbi and the club’s recruitment team as they reshape the squad for the upcoming season. Securing Savinho would further bolster Tottenham’s attacking options and provide competition for places in the forward line.
