Tottenham Hotspur are progressing towards the sale of defender Cristian Romero to Inter Milan, while simultaneously working to secure the signing of winger Savinho from Manchester City, according to reports from Sky Sport Italia and Fabrizio Romano. Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio has confirmed the club’s interest in Romero, stating that discussions have taken place with both Tottenham and the player’s representatives.
Romero, who joined Tottenham in 2021, is reportedly valued at €50 million (£43 million) by the Italian club. The Argentina international has been linked with Arsenal in recent days, but a return to Serie A appears to be his preferred destination. The move would represent a significant shift in Tottenham’s defensive options under manager Roberto De Zerbi, who is overseeing a transformative summer window for the club.
Spurs have already broken their transfer record twice this summer, signing Mateus Fernandes for £85 million and Sandro Tonali for £100 million. Further additions include Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, and Martin Dubravka on free transfers, as well as Jan Paul van Hecke for £52 million. Several players have departed, including Luka Vuskovic, Alfie Devine, and Alejo Veliz, as De Zerbi reshapes the squad.
Alongside the potential arrival of Savinho, who is valued at £60 million, Tottenham are also considering options to strengthen their attacking line. De Zerbi is reportedly seeking a striker to compete with Dominic Solanke, with Eli Junior Kroupi and Dusan Vlahovic identified as potential targets. The pursuit of Savinho, a long-standing target, is contingent on Manchester City finding a replacement for the Brazilian winger, with Diomande having recently joined the club.
Securing Savinho would provide De Zerbi with another attacking option as he looks to build a competitive squad for the upcoming season. Romero’s departure would free up funds and potentially a squad space, allowing Tottenham to continue their ambitious summer overhaul.
