Ruben Amorim is set to become the new manager of AC Milan, according to Portuguese outlet A Bola. The 41-year-old has agreed to a two-year contract with the Rossoneri, extending until 2028, marking his return to management after a six-month period without a club.
Amorim’s appointment comes after a disappointing end to the Serie A season for Milan, who narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification. They occupied a top-four spot until the 37th matchday, ultimately failing to secure a place in Europe’s premier club competition. The club is expected to undergo significant changes ahead of next season.
Amorim previously managed Sporting CP with considerable success, winning the Portuguese league title in the 2020-21 season. He was heavily linked with the Manchester United job in January, even engaging in discussions with the club, but ultimately the move did not materialize. His time at Old Trafford was described as unsuccessful, failing to replicate the impact he had in Portugal.
The Portuguese coach’s arrival at Milan represents an opportunity for both parties to rebuild. Amorim will be looking to restore Milan to its former glory and re-establish himself as one of Europe’s promising managers. Milan, meanwhile, will hope Amorim can instill a winning mentality and tactical clarity after a period of instability. The appointment could signal a shift in the club’s approach, potentially focusing on a more proactive and attacking style of play. This move could also see a significant overhaul of the current squad.
