Real Madrid defender Antonio Rüdiger has expressed his enthusiasm for the possibility of his Germany teammates Nico Schlotterbeck and Felix Nmecha joining him at the club. Reports in recent days have linked both Borussia Dortmund players with a summer move to the Spanish capital, with José Mourinho reportedly identifying them as potential targets.
Rüdiger recently signed a one-year contract extension with Real Madrid, committing his future to the club until 2025. Speaking to Sky Germany, Rüdiger stated he would be “very happy” to see Schlotterbeck and Nmecha arrive at the Santiago Bernabéu, adding that “good players are always welcome.”
The centre-back highlighted Schlotterbeck’s strengths, praising his aerial ability, aggression in duels, and quality in possession. Rüdiger specifically noted Schlotterbeck’s left foot as being “gold,” indicating his value in build-up play. Schlotterbeck has become a key figure in Dortmund’s defence since joining from Freiburg in 2022, establishing himself as a regular starter and earning international recognition.
Nmecha, a versatile midfielder, joined Dortmund from Wolfsburg last summer and has quickly become an important part of Edin Terzić’s squad. He has impressed with his energetic performances and ability to contribute both defensively and offensively. His arrival at Real Madrid would add further depth and quality to their midfield options.
Germany are currently on international duty, having comfortably defeated Curacao 7-1 in a friendly match. They are scheduled to face Ivory Coast on Saturday, with Rüdiger, Schlotterbeck, and Nmecha all potentially involved. The potential arrival of Schlotterbeck and Nmecha at Real Madrid would further strengthen the German contingent within the squad, potentially fostering a strong team dynamic. A move for either player would likely depend on Real Madrid’s overall transfer strategy and their assessment of their existing squad depth.
