Ismael Saibari is on the verge of completing a transfer from PSV Eindhoven to Bayern Munich after undergoing a medical examination on Tuesday. The 25-year-old Morocco international underwent the medical at the Moroccan national team’s base camp in New Jersey, according to reports from AFP.
The medical was overseen by Dr. Jochen Hahne, Bayern Munich’s team doctor who also serves with the German national team, indicating the transfer is nearing finalization. Bayern Munich and PSV are believed to have already reached an agreement for a total fee of approximately €55 million. Saibari is expected to sign a contract with the Bundesliga champions that will run until 2031.
Saibari enjoyed a breakthrough year with PSV last season, contributing significantly to their Eredivisie title win. He scored nine goals and provided nine assists in 33 appearances across all competitions, establishing himself as a key player for the Dutch side. His performances earned him a place in Morocco’s squad for the recent World Cup.
At the World Cup, Saibari made a notable impact, scoring a goal in Morocco’s opening match against Brazil, a 1-1 draw. He showcased his versatility and attacking prowess on the international stage, further solidifying his reputation as a promising talent. He primarily plays as a winger but can also operate as an attacking midfielder.
Bayern Munich have been actively seeking to bolster their attacking options this summer, and Saibari appears to be a key part of their plans. The move provides Bayern with another dynamic attacker, while offering Saibari the opportunity to play at one of Europe’s biggest clubs and compete for major honors. This transfer will likely provide depth and competition for places in Bayern’s forward line, enhancing their squad for the upcoming season.
