Mohamed Salah is currently evaluating options for his next club following his departure from Liverpool, with a move to either the Saudi Pro League or Major League Soccer the most likely outcomes, according to TEAMtalk. The 34-year-old recently agreed to terminate his contract with Liverpool a year early, bringing an end to his successful spell at Anfield.
Following Egypt’s elimination from the World Cup, Salah and his representatives have focused on determining his future destination. While interest exists from European clubs, sources indicate that a transfer back to Europe is becoming increasingly improbable. Geography is a significant factor in Salah’s decision-making process, with a preference for clubs in the west of Saudi Arabia due to their proximity to Egypt.
Al-Ittihad and Al-Ahli, both based in Jeddah, are considered attractive options, as Cairo is approximately a two-hour flight away. Neom Sports Club, located in Tabuk and even closer to Egypt, is also a possibility. The Saudi Pro League has reportedly been planning for Salah’s arrival for some time, viewing him as a key figure to enhance the league’s global appeal, and a deal in principle with the league is already in place.
Major League Soccer also remains a viable option for the forward. Inter Miami, owned by David Beckham, are still interested in acquiring him, while San Diego FC, owned by Egyptian-born billionaire Sir Mohamed Mansour, have also emerged as strong contenders. The prospect of living in California is also appealing to Salah’s camp. Salah enjoyed a prolific career at Liverpool, becoming a fan favourite and achieving significant success under Jurgen Klopp, but now appears set for a new challenge outside of European football. His next move will likely signal a significant moment for both the Saudi Pro League and MLS as they continue to attract high-profile players.
