Arouna Sanganté will leave Le Havre at the end of his contract on June 30th to join Spanish La Liga side FC Sevilla, the clubs confirmed on Tuesday. The 24-year-old central defender departs the Normandy club as a free agent after 147 appearances for Le Havre, where he developed through the youth ranks. Sevilla announced the signing as they look to bolster their defensive options ahead of next season, having finished 13th in La Liga.
Sanganté, who also captains Le Havre, did not agree to an extension with his boyhood club, paving the way for his move to Spain. Le Havre released a statement wishing Sanganté “all the best” for his future career. The Senegal international’s departure marks the end of a long association with the club, where he became a key figure in recent seasons.
Sevilla offers Sanganté the opportunity to experience a new league and compete for a club with a strong European pedigree, having won the Europa League a record seven times. He will join a squad that already includes several players with Ligue 1 experience, such as Gabriel Suazo, Akor Adams, and Tanguy Kouassi. These familiar faces may aid his integration into the Sevilla team and the Spanish league.
Sanganté’s consistent performances for Le Havre have established him as a promising defender, and this move to Sevilla represents a significant step up in his career. He provides a youthful presence to Sevilla’s backline and offers versatility in defense. The transfer allows Sevilla to strengthen their squad depth as they aim to improve on their mid-table finish in the previous La Liga campaign.
