FC Schalke 04 are considering moves for Fiorentina left-back Robin Gosens and SSC Napoli winger Jesper Lindstrøm as they look to reshape their squad this summer, according to Sky Germany and Fabrizio Romano.
The Gelsenkirchen club are reportedly evaluating Gosens, 30, as a potential reinforcement at left-back, with club officials weighing up a move for the experienced defender. Gosens currently has a contract with Fiorentina that runs until 2028, presenting a potential obstacle to any transfer. Valued at around €4million, a deal would depend on Schalke being able to meet those financial demands.
Gosens brings a wealth of experience, having played in both Serie A and the Bundesliga, as well as earning international caps for Germany. He previously featured for VfL Wolfsburg and has a proven track record in the German top flight, qualities Schalke are clearly seeking as they attempt to rebuild following a challenging season.
Separately, Schalke are also pursuing Jesper Lindstrøm, with the Danish attacker reportedly keen on a return to Germany. Di Marzio reports that Lindstrøm is open to joining the club, having previously played for Eintracht Frankfurt and Wolfsburg. He spent last season on loan at Wolfsburg, making 15 appearances but failing to register a goal or assist before the club’s relegation.
Napoli are willing to let Lindstrøm leave, pricing him at approximately €4million. The 26-year-old is considered surplus to requirements at the Serie A club, creating an opportunity for Schalke to secure his signature. Both players have prior Bundesliga experience, which could aid their quick integration into the Schalke squad.
Securing either player would add much-needed quality and experience to Schalke’s ranks as they prepare for another season in the Bundesliga.
