Serhou Guirassy plans Borussia Dortmund exit this summer
Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy intends to leave the club at the end of the season, according to a report from German publication Sport BILD. The 28-year-old's departure is said to be the outcome of several negotiations held in recent weeks, with the player now able to leave if a suitable offer is received.
Guirassy's brother and advisor, Karamba Guirassy, has reportedly been actively exploring the market for a potential new club for some time. Among the sides credited with an interest in the Guinea international are Turkish giants Fenerbahce, Serie A's AC Milan, Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur, and several clubs from Saudi Arabia. The player's current contract with Dortmund runs until 2028.
The news presents a significant challenge for Dortmund's sporting management. Guirassy's contract contains a release clause set at €35 million, but it only becomes active in July. Until that date, any transfer fee is subject to open negotiation, depriving the club of early planning certainty for the summer window and potentially allowing interested parties to structure a deal before the fixed clause kicks in.
Guirassy joined Dortmund permanently last summer from VfB Stuttgart, where he had enjoyed a prolific loan spell, scoring 14 goals in 22 Bundesliga appearances during the 2022/23 season. His move to Signal Iduna Park was made permanent for a fee in the region of €18 million. This season, he has contributed 12 goals across all competitions for Edin Terzic's side, establishing himself as a key offensive option.
The potential sale represents a recurring theme for Dortmund, a club that has often balanced sporting ambition with a sustainable model of developing and selling players. Losing Guirassy would create a need for a new centre-forward to support or compete with Niclas Fullkrug. For Guirassy, a move could offer a new challenge after spells in Germany with Cologne, Stuttgart, and now Dortmund, with the reported interest indicating his stock remains high across Europe and beyond.
The coming months will determine which club meets Dortmund's valuation and can secure the striker's signature. His eventual destination will hinge on the negotiations conducted before his release clause becomes active, a period that now becomes crucial for all parties involved.
