Lassana Simakha, the 19-year-old defender at Troyes, is attracting interest from Bundesliga clubs Borussia Mönchengladbach and Augsburg, according to L’Équipe.
Simakha arrived at Troyes last summer from Rodez in Ligue 2 and currently holds a professional trainee contract with the club, meaning he is set to be out of contract at the end of the next season. Troyes have begun discussions with Simakha’s representatives regarding a first professional contract, but face a potential challenge to retain the promising centre-back.
The left-footed defender stands at 1.90m and is described as athletic, qualities that have reportedly caught the eye of clubs in Germany. Augsburg, in particular, already boasts a contingent of French players in their squad, including Han-Noah Massengo, Chrislain Matsima, and Alexis Claude-Maurice, which may aid in any potential pursuit.
Troyes earned promotion to Ligue 1 this season and are already planning for adjustments to their squad for the upcoming campaign. Mathys Detourbet is confirmed to be leaving the club for Monaco, via a spell at Manchester City, and Simakha represents another potential departure from the club’s academy. The interest from Mönchengladbach and Augsburg could test Troyes’ resolve to keep hold of one of their brightest young talents.
Should Simakha move to the Bundesliga, it would provide him with an opportunity to develop in a competitive European league. The transfer would also represent a further demonstration of Troyes’ ability to nurture promising young players and potentially generate revenue through player sales.
