Slot warns PSG: 'Anfield will be ready' for Champions League comeback
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has issued a warning to Paris Saint-Germain, stating that his team and Anfield will be ready for the second leg of their Champions League tie. The Reds face a 2-0 deficit heading into the return leg of the quarter-final. Speaking after a morale-boosting 2-0 Premier League win over Fulham, Slot acknowledged the challenge but insisted his team is prepared for the monumental task of overturning the first-leg defeat.
Slot addressed the media in a press conference, where he was quoted by Sky Sports. He stated that the team is in a "better situation than it was two or three days ago, or a week ago, but everything does not suddenly become perfect again after just one victory." The Dutch manager was referring to the 2-0 league win, which provided a much-needed boost after a difficult period of results. He emphasized the physical demands of the upcoming fixture, noting the challenge of playing three games in six days, but affirmed his team's readiness.
"The supporters will be behind us and the players will give everything they have to turn this around," Slot said, according to reports. He added a note of caution, stating, "We will need to be at our physical peak, which is not easy when you play three games in six days, but I can tell you we are ready for it, we are prepared for it, and Anfield will be ready too."
The first leg in Paris saw Liverpool outplayed for large periods, with the 2-0 scoreline leaving them with a significant, but not insurmountable, task. The return leg at Anfield is scheduled for next week, with Liverpool needing to overturn the two-goal deficit to progress to the semi-finals of the Champions League. The atmosphere at Anfield is expected to be a key factor, a point not lost on Slot, who is preparing his team for a high-stakes European night.
