Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti is reportedly concerned by the slow pace of transfer activity ahead of the team’s training camp on July 13th. According to reports in the Italian press, Spalletti is hoping to have Randal Kolo Muani and Tarik Muharemovic secured before the squad reconvenes at Continassa.
The Bianconeri finished sixth in Serie A last season, a disappointing result that prompted changes in the club’s leadership with Giovanni Carnevali arriving as the new CEO and general manager, replacing Damien Comolli. However, the playing squad remains largely unchanged, a situation that is causing some anxiety for Spalletti, who is due back in Turin this weekend.
Juventus are reportedly in advanced talks with Paris Saint-Germain to re-sign Kolo Muani, a move Spalletti hopes will be finalized in time for the start of training. The pursuit of a new goalkeeper, however, has proven more difficult. Spalletti had hoped to reunite with Alisson Becker, but Liverpool are unwilling to allow the Brazilian to leave.
Alternative target Emiliano Martinez, currently competing in the World Cup, also presents complications, with Aston Villa demanding a reported €10 million for the 34-year-old, a fee Juventus are hesitant to meet. Other options, such as Guglielmo Vicario of Tottenham Hotspur – also a target for Napoli – have not fully convinced the manager.
In addition to Kolo Muani, Spalletti is pushing for the return of Tarik Muharemovic from Sassuolo. Negotiations are progressing, but a deal is not yet complete. While Muharemovic would not be immediately available, his arrival would address a need for a left-footed central defender. The only confirmed new arrival for the start of training is Jeff Ekhator, a promising young player, but not a proven goalscorer. This lack of immediate firepower is a source of frustration for Spalletti as he prepares for the new season, recognizing the significant work required to rebuild the Juventus squad.
