Luciano Spalletti is set to return to Turin at the end of the week, according to reports from TuttoSport, to begin preparations for the 2024-2025 Serie A season. The manager will have a week to prepare before the rest of the squad returns, allowing him to establish a foundation for the upcoming campaign.
Spalletti’s previous departure from the club followed a meeting with John Elkann and Damien Comolli amid growing concerns and disagreements regarding the club’s direction. Reports indicate a particularly strained relationship between Spalletti and Comolli, with frequent clashes over various aspects of team management. The manager now returns to a club structure he feels is more aligned with his vision.
Spalletti is reportedly eager to reinforce the Juventus squad and has identified six to seven players as potential targets, though he acknowledges the transfer process will be challenging. He is scheduled to meet with Giovanni Carnevali next week for further discussions regarding potential acquisitions. The club is also considering the development pathway for young player Ekhator.
Juventus’ pre-season schedule begins on July 18th with a friendly against Basel, followed by matches against Standard Liegi and Nice. A tour of Hong Kong and Australia is also planned. Spalletti hopes to have some of the new signings integrated into the squad before this tour. The club will also remain open to loan opportunities throughout August to further refine the roster. Spalletti is currently enjoying a short break with his family before officially resuming his duties in Turin.
