Tottenham Hotspur are awaiting final approval to complete the signing of Manchester City’s Savinho, while Lucas Bergvall is expected to leave the club this summer, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Spurs have been among the biggest spenders in European football this summer, having already secured deals for Sandro Tonali, Matheus Fernandes, and Jan Paul van Hecke, alongside free transfers for Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, and Martin Dubravka. The club is simultaneously working to trim its squad to facilitate further additions.
Bergvall, who joined Tottenham recently, has informed the club of his desire for regular first-team football, a situation complicated by the arrival of Fernandes and Tonali, and the club’s absence from European competition next season. Romano reports that Bergvall is “expected to leave” with Nottingham Forest currently offering the highest financial bid, though Newcastle United are also in contention, offering a potentially more ambitious project.
Tottenham are reportedly seeking a fee of £50 million for the midfielder, rejecting an initial offer from Nottingham Forest. Bergvall’s departure would provide funds towards the acquisition of Savinho, a long-term target for De Zerbi’s side. Spurs were previously interested in Savinho last year, but Manchester City opted to retain the player and offer him a new contract.
Romano states that negotiations between Tottenham and Manchester City are ongoing, with Savinho eager to make the move. The key obstacle remains City’s need to secure a replacement for the Brazilian winger before sanctioning his departure. The journalist maintains that Savinho remains Tottenham’s priority target, and the deal could be finalized once City address their squad depth.
Securing Savinho would significantly bolster Tottenham’s attacking options as they prepare for the new Premier League season. The potential sale of Bergvall demonstrates the club’s proactive approach to squad management and financial sustainability.
