Tottenham Hotspur are prioritizing a move for Manchester City winger Savinho, with a deal for AC Milan’s Rafael Leao now appearing unlikely, according to Fabrizio Romano. The Portuguese international, Leao, had previously indicated a desire for a “new challenge” after seven years with the Serie A club, having scored 80 goals in 291 appearances for Milan.
Leao expressed his ambition for a move to a new league in early June, stating he had given everything to AC Milan and wished to find fulfillment elsewhere. However, Romano reports that Tottenham are not currently pursuing the 27-year-old, and he is instead drawing strong interest from Turkish side Fenerbahce, who have sent a delegation to Milan to negotiate a deal.
Spurs have repeatedly attempted to sign Savinho, 22, over the past year, but have been unsuccessful in their bids. The Brazilian spent last season with Manchester City, making 14 appearances across all competitions and contributing three goals and three assists. Despite limited playing time, Tottenham, now under manager Roberto De Zerbi, are renewing their efforts to secure his signature, with a potential price tag of between £55-60 million.
Tottenham have already invested over £220 million in new signings this summer, bringing in midfielders Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali, as well as centre-back Jan Paul van Hecke. Andrew Robertson and Marcos Senesi have also joined on free transfers. The club may still seek to add a striker, given recent injury concerns and inconsistent form in attack. A successful acquisition of Savinho would further bolster their squad as they aim to challenge for European qualification.
