Strasbourg have confirmed the signing of Swedish midfielder Benjamin Brantlind from Göteborg for a fee of €1 million, with a further €800,000 potentially payable in bonuses. The 17-year-old, who will turn 18 on August 15th, has signed a five-year contract with the Ligue 1 club. The transfer was initially reported on June 18th, and the club officially announced the deal on Saturday.
Brantlind is an attacking midfielder who has represented Sweden at the Under-19 level. He joins Strasbourg as the club continues its summer recruitment drive, having already secured the signing of Portuguese midfielder Diogo Sousa and awaiting the official confirmation of Polish goalkeeper Milosz Piekutowski. The acquisition of Brantlind demonstrates Strasbourg’s commitment to investing in young talent.
Strasbourg are also nearing the capture of Argentinian left-back Mateo Del Blanco from Unión Santa Fe. According to Radio Gol, the club have triggered Del Blanco’s release clause of €2.1 million. The 22-year-old has reportedly bid farewell to his teammates at Unión Santa Fe, suggesting the transfer is imminent. Del Blanco has over 100 professional appearances to his name and was also a target for Lyon and Toulouse.
Strasbourg are currently without a head coach, but are actively strengthening their squad ahead of the new season. The arrival of Brantlind and the impending signing of Del Blanco will provide new options for the incoming manager. These signings signal Strasbourg’s ambition to compete higher up the Ligue 1 table next season, building a squad with a blend of youth and experience.
