VfB Stuttgart chairman Alexander Wehrle has issued a definitive statement regarding the future of midfielder Angelo Stiller, telling the Sport1 Doppelpass show that the club has "absolutely no interest" in selling the player this summer. Wehrle confirmed that despite media reports linking Stiller with a move to Juventus, no club has made any official contact with Stuttgart regarding a transfer for the 23-year-old.
Wehrle directly addressed the persistent speculation surrounding one of his key players. "In all the time I’ve known Angelo Stiller, I’ve read something about him every few weeks," he said. "The fact is that no one has contacted me personally about him yet. And I have also never received anything in writing." He emphasized Stiller's importance to the squad, stating the club's position is not to even entertain discussions about a potential departure.
The midfielder, who joined Stuttgart from Bayern Munich in 2023, has been a crucial component of Sebastian Hoeness's high-performing side, which finished a sensational second in the Bundesliga this past season. Stiller’s role as a deep-lying playmaker has been integral to Stuttgart's tactical system, making his potential loss a significant concern for the club's ambitions in the Champions League next season.
Recent reports from Italy suggested that Juventus had initiated talks with Stiller's representatives, but Wehrle's comments indicate those discussions have not progressed to the club level. With Stiller under a long-term contract until 2028, Stuttgart holds a very strong negotiating position and appears determined to build on their recent success with their core group intact.
The firm stance from the Stuttgart hierarchy reflects a broader shift in the Bundesliga, where clubs are increasingly fighting to retain their top talent amid interest from Europe's traditional giants. For Juventus, or any other suitor, acquiring Stiller would now require a substantial offer and a convincing pitch to a club that sees him as a cornerstone of their project. Stuttgart's clear message aims to settle the speculation early in the window, allowing the player and team to focus on preparations for the upcoming campaign.
