VfB Stuttgart are pursuing VfL Wolfsburg striker Dženan Pejčinović and Feyenoord winger Leo Sauer as they seek to reinforce their attack ahead of their upcoming UEFA Champions League campaign. The Bundesliga club has reportedly allocated a significant transfer budget, contingent on player sales, to facilitate these moves, according to BILD.
Stuttgart are believed to be leading the chase for Pejčinović, with an improved offer of €22 million expected to be submitted imminently. Wolfsburg are currently seeking a fee of €25 million for the 21-year-old forward. The clubs are reportedly close to an agreement, as personal terms between Stuttgart and Pejčinović have already been established, with a contract extending to 2030 anticipated. Pejčinović has demonstrated promise in the Bundesliga, becoming a regular feature in Wolfsburg’s squad.
The pursuit of Sauer is proving more complex. The 20-year-old Slovak international has reportedly already agreed personal terms with TSG Hoffenheim and is also garnering attention from Benfica. While previous estimates placed his transfer fee around €7 million, Feyenoord are now said to be demanding up to €10 million for the winger. Sauer has quickly established himself as a key player for Feyenoord, and has also earned 11 caps for the Slovakian national team.
Stuttgart’s return to the Champions League necessitates strengthening their squad depth, particularly in attacking positions. The club’s ability to finalize these deals, however, is dependent on generating revenue through player departures. The supervisory board has approved the transfer budget, but only if funds are raised through sales. Securing both Pejčinović and Sauer would significantly enhance Stuttgart’s attacking options and prepare them for the challenges of competing in both the Bundesliga and European competition.
