Sunderland have firmly rejected the possibility of selling midfielder Noah Sadiki this summer, despite reported interest from Manchester United, Chelsea, and clubs within the City Football Group. The club communicated this stance to Sadiki and his representatives, according to TEAMtalk, viewing the 21-year-old as integral to their long-term ambitions. This decision follows Sunderland’s earlier refusal of a bid from Chelsea for captain Granit Xhaka, demonstrating a resolute commitment to retaining key players.
Sadiki enjoyed a successful debut season in the Premier League, making 33 appearances and contributing significantly to Sunderland’s qualification for the Europa League. His performances were further enhanced by an impressive showing for DR Congo in the recent World Cup campaign, attracting attention from several high-profile clubs. Manchester United are specifically monitoring Sadiki as they evaluate midfield options, while Chelsea’s owners and the City Football Group have also expressed sustained interest.
The Black Cats’ firm stance is driven by manager Regis Le Bris, who believes the current squad provides a solid foundation for building on last season’s success and competing effectively both domestically and in Europe. Le Bris has reportedly stressed to the club’s hierarchy that maintaining the core of the team, including both Xhaka and Sadiki, is crucial for achieving these ambitions. Sunderland are preparing for their first European campaign in over a century and are determined to strengthen, not weaken, their squad.
Sadiki joined Sunderland last summer from Union Saint-Gilloise for a reported £15 million fee. The club believes the Belgium-born midfielder still possesses significant potential for development at the Stadium of Light and views him as a cornerstone of their future plans. Sunderland are prepared to withstand further approaches for Sadiki, signaling a clear message to potential suitors that he is not for sale at any price this transfer window.
