Swansea's Vipotnik attracting Premier League and European interest
Swansea City striker Zan Vipotnik is the subject of serious transfer interest from multiple Premier League clubs and European sides, according to sources at TEAMtalk. The 24-year-old Slovenian, currently the Championship's top scorer with 22 goals this season, is being tracked as a potential summer target following a breakout campaign.
Brighton & Hove Albion, who first brought Viktor Gyokeres to English football, are among the clubs to have extensively scouted Vipotnik. Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Everton, Leeds United, Brentford, and West Ham United have also carried out detailed checks on the forward. Interest extends beyond the Premier League, with Portuguese giants Sporting CP, Gyokeres's former club, monitoring him as they assess future attacking options.
Vipotnik joined Swansea on a free transfer from Bordeaux in 2024. After a steady debut season of seven goals, he has adapted fully to the Championship's demands and his prolific form has seen him dubbed by some scouts as the "new Viktor Gyokeres." The comparison references Gyokeres's own development path, which saw him excel at Coventry City before a prolific move to Sporting CP and a subsequent high-profile transfer to Arsenal.
Swansea moved last month to secure Vipotnik's future by tying him to a new long-term contract. However, sources indicate this decision was driven largely by a desire to safeguard the player's transfer value rather than signal a long-term stay in South Wales. The new deal ensures Swansea will command a significant fee should a sale be agreed.
Interest is also present within the EFL, with Coventry City and Ipswich Town, both clubs with ambitions of Premier League football, keeping a close eye on his situation. Vipotnik's physical profile, finishing ability, and rapid adaptation to English football are cited as key reasons for the widespread attention.
The growing belief among scouting departments is that Vipotnik could follow a trajectory similar to other forwards who have used the Championship as a springboard to the top level. With Swansea unlikely to achieve promotion this season, the club now faces a challenging task to retain their prized asset amid mounting external pressure. Any move would represent a major profit on their initial investment and a significant step in Vipotnik's career.
