Dominik Szoboszlai has agreed to a new contract with Liverpool, securing his future at Anfield. The agreement comes as the club undergoes a period of transition with the arrival of new manager Andoni Iraola and the departures of several key players including Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, and Ibrahima Konate.
The Hungary international was named Liverpool’s Player of the Season for the 2025/26 campaign, demonstrating his value both in his preferred midfield role and in an unfamiliar position at right-back. According to a report from Anfield Watch’s Bence Bocsak, Szoboszlai is set to sign the new terms on Thursday.
His current contract was not due to expire until 2028, but Liverpool moved to secure his long-term future early, avoiding potential complications in future negotiations. Szoboszlai’s outstanding performances last season saw his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) reach a career-high of €104 million.
Across all competitions, the midfielder contributed 11 goals and seven assists in 48 appearances for Liverpool. SciSports data rated Szoboszlai as the best central midfielder in the Champions League last season, highlighting his impact on the team. His versatility, having played effectively as a central midfielder, attacking midfielder, winger, and full-back, was also a key asset under former manager Arne Slot.
Liverpool currently have several other contract situations to address, with Alisson, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, Joe Gomez, and Kostas Tsimikas all having deals expiring in 2027. The club has reportedly fended off interest from Juventus in Alisson, while Inter Milan have been linked with Elliott, who recently returned from a loan spell at Aston Villa. Iraola and sporting director Richard Hughes are prioritizing the addition of a winger, a central midfielder to partner Szoboszlai, and a central defender this summer. The club are monitoring Yan Diomande of RB Leipzig and Bradley Barcola of PSG as potential winger targets. Securing Szoboszlai’s future provides a significant boost for Iraola as he prepares for the upcoming Premier League season.
