Haris Tabakovic is set to join RB Salzburg from TSG Hoffenheim in a permanent transfer worth around €5 million, according to Sky Germany. The 32-year-old striker has already agreed to personal terms with the Austrian Bundesliga side and a medical is scheduled for Friday. Upon successful completion of the medical, Tabakovic will sign a contract that extends until the summer of 2029.
Tabakovic spent last season on loan at Borussia Mönchengladbach, where he impressed by scoring 13 goals in the Bundesliga. However, Mönchengladbach were unable to afford a permanent deal, paving the way for Salzburg to secure his signature. Hoffenheim will receive a reported €5 million fee for the Bosnia & Herzegovina international.
RB Salzburg managing director Marcus Mann is credited with initiating the transfer, recognizing Tabakovic’s goalscoring ability as a significant asset for the club. Tabakovic began his professional career in Austria with SV Grödig and FC Pinzgau Saalfelden before moving to Sturm Graz in 2016. He then spent time in Poland with Jagiellonia Białystok before joining Hoffenheim in 2019, though he has largely been loaned out since.
The move to Salzburg represents a return to a league where Tabakovic previously excelled, and provides him with a clear pathway for regular first-team football. Salzburg consistently compete in the Champions League and provide a platform for players to showcase their talents on a European stage. The acquisition of a proven goalscorer like Tabakovic will bolster Salzburg’s attacking options as they aim to maintain their dominance in the Austrian Bundesliga and progress further in continental competitions.
