Germany defender Jonathan Tah has indicated an openness to joining Italian Serie A side Palermo, potentially towards the end of his playing career. The Bayern Munich centre-back made the comments following Germany’s match against Ecuador, responding to a question about a possible future with the Sicilian club. According to Sportitalia, when asked if he would play for Palermo later in his career, Tah simply replied, “Yes.”
The 28-year-old’s potential interest is reportedly linked to his partner’s family origins in Palermo, suggesting a personal connection to the city. Tah has been a key figure in the Bayern Munich defense, making 35 appearances across all competitions last season and helping the club secure another Bundesliga title. He has also become a mainstay in the German national team, featuring in all of their matches at the recent European Championships.
Palermo are currently building a squad capable of competing in Serie A following their promotion from Serie B. The club recently confirmed the signing of Estévez and are also reportedly pursuing other attacking options, including Bonfanti and Moreo, as they look to strengthen their team ahead of the new season. President of Manchester City, as reported by Palermo sources, has also expressed a desire to see Palermo compete in Serie A.
Tah’s current contract with Bayern Munich runs until 2026, and any potential move to Palermo would likely depend on his role at the German club in the coming seasons. While the timing of a transfer remains uncertain, Tah’s comments suggest a genuine affection for the city and a willingness to consider a move to Palermo in the future. This could provide a significant boost to the club’s profile and attract further investment as they establish themselves back in the Italian top flight.
