Goalkeeper Arnau Tenas has joined Real Mallorca on a season-long loan from Villarreal, the Spanish second division club confirmed. The 25-year-old will spend the 2024-25 campaign with Mallorca, seeking more regular first-team football after a brief spell with the Yellow Submarine.
Tenas arrived at Villarreal last summer from Paris Saint-Germain, hoping to reignite his career. He featured in a portion of games last season but evidently did not fully convince Villarreal manager Marcelino García Toral of his abilities, leading to the decision to allow him to move on loan. He won an Olympic gold medal with Spain in 2024.
Tenas initially rose to prominence through the Barcelona academy, where he was highly regarded as a promising young goalkeeper. However, he struggled to break into the first team at the Camp Nou and eventually moved to PSG in 2022, where he served primarily as a backup. His time in Paris yielded limited opportunities, prompting the transfer to Villarreal.
Mallorca, currently managed by Martín Demichelis, will provide Tenas with a platform to showcase his potential in La Liga. The loan move represents a fresh start for the player, and a chance to establish himself as a consistent performer at a senior level.
