Torino are in negotiations with Leeds United to secure a loan deal for Brazilian goalkeeper Lucas Perri, according to reports in Italy. The Serie A club are prioritizing strengthening their goalkeeping and defensive options during the current transfer window, and Perri has emerged as a key target for sporting director Petrachi.
Perri joined Leeds from São Paulo in July 2023, but has yet to make a competitive appearance for the club. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Vitória Guimarães in Portugal, where he featured regularly, making 18 appearances in all competitions. The 26-year-old’s lack of first-team opportunities at Elland Road has prompted Torino to explore a temporary move.
While Torino have reportedly reached a preliminary agreement with Perri himself, negotiations with Leeds remain ongoing. The Italian club are seeking a loan with an option to buy, but it is currently unclear whether Leeds are receptive to such an arrangement. Torino are hoping to finalize the deal quickly to provide clarity over their goalkeeping situation ahead of the new season.
Torino finished tenth in Serie A last season, and are aiming to build a more competitive squad to challenge for European qualification. Strengthening their defensive options is seen as crucial to achieving this goal. The pursuit of Perri demonstrates their intention to bring in players with experience and potential. Should the move materialize, Perri will likely compete with current Torino goalkeeper Vanja Milinković-Savić for the starting position, adding depth and competition to the squad. This transfer would provide Perri with the opportunity to gain consistent playing time and further develop his career in a top European league.
