Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and Everton are all monitoring Lille midfielder Ngal’ayel Mukau, according to TEAMtalk. The 21-year-old Democratic Republic of Congo international enjoyed a breakthrough season in Ligue 1, playing a key role in Lille’s third-place finish and subsequent Champions League qualification.
Mukau, typically deployed in a defensive midfield role, made 42 appearances across all competitions for Lille this season and is expected to feature for his nation at the World Cup. His performances have drawn extensive scouting from Premier League clubs, with Tottenham, Villa and Everton among those most actively assessing his potential.
Brighton and Brentford are also reported to have conducted detailed checks on the midfielder as interest in his future continues to grow throughout Europe. Lille have become known for developing young talent, with players like Ayyoub Bouaddi and Matias Fernandez-Pardo also attracting attention from top clubs, including Arsenal and Newcastle United respectively.
Mukau joined Lille from Mechelen in 2024 and has quickly become an important player for Bruno Genesio’s side. The recent departure of Genesio has led to speculation that Lille may be more open to offers for their young players this summer. Scouts have been impressed by Mukau’s all-action displays, highlighting his ability to contribute in both defensive and attacking phases.
His energy, pressing, and technical quality in possession have made him an appealing target for Premier League recruitment teams. Mukau’s versatility, capable of playing as a deeper controller or in more advanced roles, adds to his value. Both Brighton and Brentford are believed to be particularly interested, given their focus on developing young, technically gifted players. Aston Villa, Everton and Tottenham are also considering Mukau as part of their midfield plans. Lille are currently determined to retain Mukau, who is under contract until 2028.
