Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi is facing significant obstacles, despite the club’s willingness to offer a fee of £85 million, according to reports. While Spurs have already spent £237 million on new arrivals this summer – Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Jan Paul van Hecke, Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, and Martin Dubravka – securing Kroupi appears increasingly difficult.
Roberto De Zerbi is reportedly keen to add attacking reinforcements, particularly on the left wing following last summer’s failure to replace Son Heung-min. Kroupi, who scored 13 Premier League goals in his debut season with Bournemouth, has emerged as a primary target, with Manchester City’s Savinho, Cody Gakpo, and Rafael Leao also being considered. However, the 20-year-old is reportedly unwilling to join Paris Saint-Germain in a squad role.
Despite Tottenham’s substantial offer, journalist Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider suggests that Bournemouth are likely to reject the bid. The club, under new manager Marco Rose, are determined to retain their key players, especially with European football now on the horizon. O’Rourke stated that Bournemouth do not feel immediate pressure to sell Kroupi, who is under contract until 2030.
Graeme Bailey, another source, confirmed PSG’s interest but indicated Kroupi’s reluctance to accept a peripheral role at the French club. This leaves Tottenham as the frontrunners, but the financial hurdle and Bournemouth’s resolve remain significant challenges. The transfer window closes on September 1, leaving limited time for negotiations. It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can convince Bournemouth to part with their prized asset, especially given the player’s long-term contract.
