Tottenham Lead Race for Liverpool's Departing Defender Andy Robertson
Tottenham Hotspur are the frontrunners to sign Liverpool defender Andy Robertson on a free transfer this summer, according to reports. The Scotland captain confirmed this week he will leave Anfield upon the expiry of his contract in June, ending a nine-year spell with the club where he won every major domestic and European honour.
David Ornstein of The Athletic reports that Tottenham remain in pole position to secure the 32-year-old's signature. The north London club came close to a cut-price deal for Robertson in the January transfer window, but the move ultimately collapsed. With Robertson now available without a fee, Spurs are positioned to finally land their target, provided they secure Premier League survival in the final weeks of the season.
Robertson's departure from Liverpool was confirmed after he fell behind summer signing Milos Kerkez in the pecking order under manager Arne Slot.
