Tottenham Hotspur are aiming to raise £170 million through the sale of five first-team players this summer, according to a report from Football.London. The funds generated will be reinvested in new signings as manager Roberto De Zerbi continues to reshape the squad.
Spurs have undergone a significant shift in transfer strategy, adjusting their wage structure and making substantial investments in players like Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, and Jan Paul van Hecke, totaling £237 million to date. The club also added Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, and Martin Dubravka on free transfers, signaling De Zerbi’s influence following his arrival late last season to avoid relegation.
The club has already sanctioned the departures of Yves Bissouma, Alfie Devine, Radu Dragușin (on loan with an option to buy), and Alejo Veliz, with Luka Vuskovic’s £50 million move to Brighton nearing completion. Permanent deals for loanees Joao Palhinha and Randal Kolo Muani were not pursued.
Cristian Romero, the club captain, is expected to be among those departing, with Atletico Madrid considered the most likely destination. Despite signing a new contract recently, the Argentina centre-back has reportedly been seeking a move, and his departure could yield a fee of around £50 million. The arrivals of Senesi and Van Hecke have further fueled speculation surrounding Romero’s future.
Midfielder Lucas Bergvall is also anticipated to leave, having expressed a desire to move on following the signings of Tonali and Fernandes which will limit his playing time. While De Zerbi hopes to retain the £50 million-rated player, the club may concede to his wishes. Defender Djed Spence is also likely to be sold, with Everton reportedly interested in a £25 million deal.
Striker Richarlison, despite being the club’s top scorer last season, is also expected to be offloaded due to inconsistency and injury concerns. Tottenham are likely to take a loss on the Brazilian, with Turkish clubs reportedly offering around £25 million. Finally, goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario’s potential exit has seen interest from Inter Milan and Juventus, though Juventus are now prioritizing Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez, potentially leaving Inter as the frontrunner for the £20 million-rated Italy international.
These five sales would provide Tottenham with the necessary funds to continue their ambitious summer spending, with Rafael Leao and Bournemouth’s El Junior Kroupi among their reported targets.
