Tottenham Hotspur have no plans to allow midfielder Archie Gray to leave the club this summer, despite anticipated additions to the squad under manager Roberto De Zerbi, according to TEAMtalk. Spurs are actively pursuing several midfield targets, including Sandro Tonali, Matheus Fernandes, and Adam Wharton, potentially bringing in as many as three new players before the transfer window closes.
However, sources indicate that Gray’s future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is secure, with the club viewing the 20-year-old as a key component of their long-term project. De Zerbi himself has reportedly expressed a high opinion of the England Under-21 international.
This stance contrasts with the situation surrounding fellow young midfielder Lucas Bergvall, who is reportedly considering his options due to concerns over playing time and interest from clubs in England, Germany, and Italy. Gray, however, has been reassured of his importance to the club and remains committed to Tottenham.
De Zerbi is believed to be impressed by Gray’s versatility, having demonstrated an ability to play in multiple positions since joining from Leeds United in 2024, including central midfield, defence, and wider roles. This adaptability is considered a significant asset by Tottenham’s coaching staff, who believe he has the potential to become a crucial player for years to come.
Despite reported interest from Gray’s former club, Leeds United, as well as Newcastle United, Everton, and Nottingham Forest, Tottenham have not entertained any offers. The club’s position is described as unequivocal, even with the potential arrival of a club-record signing in Tonali. Gray is seen as a player who can contribute immediately while also developing into a long-term cornerstone of the team. His position at the club appears secure amidst a period of potential change.
