Newcastle United are set to sign winger Bazoumana Touré from TSG Hoffenheim for a reported fee of €50million, according to Sky Germany and The Athletic. The transfer represents a club-record sale for Hoffenheim, surpassing the €43.5million received for Joelinton in 2019, when he also joined Newcastle. Touré has agreed to a long-term contract with the Magpies, though specific terms have not yet been disclosed.
TSG Hoffenheim will also benefit from a 10% sell-on clause included in the deal, meaning they will receive a further percentage of any future transfer fee should Newcastle choose to sell Touré at a later date. The 23-year-old has quickly risen in prominence since joining Hoffenheim from Swedish side Hammerby IF for €10million in January 2022, establishing himself as a key player in the Bundesliga.
Last season, Touré enjoyed a productive campaign, registering 5 goals and 15 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions. His performances attracted interest from a number of other prominent clubs, including Liverpool, Brentford, Manchester United, and Borussia Dortmund, but Newcastle moved decisively to secure his signature. He also featured for Côte d'Ivoire at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The move for Touré addresses a need for attacking reinforcements for Newcastle manager Eddie Howe, providing competition and versatility in the wide areas. Newcastle are looking to build on their impressive Premier League form from last season, and Touré’s arrival signifies their ambition to continue challenging at the top of the table. The signing further demonstrates Newcastle’s willingness to invest in young, dynamic talent under their new ownership.
