Leandro Trossard is set to leave Arsenal for Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas in a deal worth €20 million. The Belgium international has been with the Gunners for three-and-a-half years, having joined from Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2023.
Trossard has shared left wing duties with Gabriel Martinelli during his time at the Emirates Stadium, often being preferred by manager Mikel Arteta, and started 21 Premier League matches last season. However, at 31 years old, Arsenal have agreed to sell him to Besiktas for an initial €18 million, with a further €2 million potentially payable in add-ons.
According to The Athletic, Trossard is nearing agreement on personal terms with Besiktas, and is expected to sign a three-year contract with an option for a fourth. The deal is projected to see him earn an annual salary of approximately €7 million, and could be finalised this week as discussions continue.
Arsenal are reportedly planning to intensify their pursuit of Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis once Trossard’s departure is official. They also retain interest in Morgan Rogers of Aston Villa and Bradley Barcola, currently at Paris Saint-Germain.
Trossard’s arrival at Arsenal came about after Chelsea successfully bid for Mykhailo Mudryk in January 2023, prompting the Gunners to turn to the Brighton winger as an alternative. Arsenal secured his signature for a fee of €24 million, a price that quickly appeared to be a bargain.
He registered 10 assists in his first 20 Premier League games for Arsenal and has been a key contributor to the team’s success, notably scoring a late winning goal against West Ham United during their 2025-26 Premier League title-winning campaign. Arsenal will miss his ability to deliver crucial moments. Despite significant investment in other players during Arteta’s tenure, Trossard’s signing has proven to be particularly astute, and his replacement will face a considerable challenge to match his impact.
