Troyes are poised to sign Melbourne City goalkeeper Patrick Beach, according to L’Est Éclair. The 23-year-old Australian international is expected to join the Ligue 1 club on a five-year contract. Beach, who will turn 24 on August 6th, has emerged as a key figure for the Australian national team, recently displacing veteran Mathew Ryan as the first-choice goalkeeper.
Troyes have been seeking a replacement for Nicolas Lemaître, who departed for Rennes during the off-season, and a strong competitor for current starter Hillel Konaté. The arrival of Beach, who stands at 1.89m tall, would address both needs. He made a notable impression during his debut appearances for Australia, including at the recent World Cup.
Beach’s transfer was initially progressed by Brendan MacFarlane, the club’s interim sporting director, and is expected to be finalized by his successor, Jocelyn Blanchard. The goalkeeper’s Melbourne City side is part of the City Football Group, which owns twelve clubs worldwide. He was eliminated from the World Cup with Australia in the round of 16, losing to Egypt on penalties after a 1-1 draw on July 3rd, and is expected to join Troyes following a post-season break.
Melbourne City coach Sander Krabbendam described Beach to Football360 as a “hard worker and a determined man,” highlighting his professionalism even before securing a starting position. Krabbendam noted Beach’s dedication to training, including extra sessions, gym work, and recovery treatments, a routine he intends to continue in France.
